We’re a close-knit team of about 15 who see our work as more than numbers—we’re a close-knit group of problem solvers who genuinely care about each other and our clients. We embrace our non-corporate culture by sticking to our core values, sharing virtual high-fives, and supporting each other with a team-first mentality.

Who You Are

You’re a detailed, numbers-driven pro with a knack for process improvement and team management. You’re not just crunching numbers; you’re a natural mentor who thrives on accountability and helping your team grow. You value open, clear communication and are passionate about the challenge of working across multiple client accounts.

  • Experience: 3+ years in a Client Accounting Services (CAS) firm or similar environment, managing complex accounting tasks and multi-client workflows.
  • Credentials: CMA, CPA, or MBA are preferred.
  • Tech Skills: Mastery of QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Google Sheets/Excel, and other common cloud accounting apps. Experience with reporting and analytics tools like Fathom, Syft, PowerBI, and others will make you stand out. You know how to make technology work for you and aren’t afraid to dive into new tools.
  • Project Management: Proven project management skills—juggling deadlines, coordinating teams, and leading accounting projects is second nature.
  • Communication: You communicate financial insights in plain language, making complex concepts easy for clients and team members to understand. You are also passionate about small business and have a natural motivation to coach and advise. You’re emotionally intelligent and know how to naturally navigate tricky situations and personalities to solve problems.
  • Figure Stuff Out Mindset: You’re resourceful and a natural problem solver. You aren’t about going rogue, but you don’t shrink away from an issue, challenge, or problem. You get excited about finding the solution and teaching others how to solve it too.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Client Controller, you’ll be the go-to person for making sure that client finances run smoothly, accurately, and efficiently. You’ll oversee a team, support our Client Advisors/CFOs, and be hands-on in improving the way we deliver for our clients. This isn’t a traditional Controller role—think more of a dynamic, collaborative problem-solver than a back-office numbers-cruncher.

  • Team Lead & Mentor: Lead, guide, and inspire your team, ensuring projects stay on track, quality standards are met, and team members grow professionally.
  • Process Owner: Drive efficient workflows and stay on top of recurring accounting and project-based tasks. You’ll manage systems, optimize processes, and maintain high standards using tools like QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and Expensify.
  • Client-Focused Collaboration: Partner with our Client Advisors to bring financial insights to clients in a way they’ll appreciate and understand. Be ready to jump into client meetings when needed and deliver actionable, numbers-backed insights.
  • Project Leader: Manage high-impact projects across client accounts (from Workers Comp audits to system implementations), ensuring each task delivers value and aligns with client goals.
  • Strategic Prolem-Solver: Proactively identify bottlenecks and challenges within workflows, balancing long-term efficiency with real-time client needs. Handle complex problems that are identified without hand-holding or step-by-step instruction.

What We Value

Our core values aren’t just wall art—they’re how we roll every day. You’ll thrive here if you identify strongly with the below:

  • Trusting and Trustworthy: You’ll be a key point of trust for our clients and our team, so honesty, integrity, and clear communication are essential.
  • Balanced: You know that work and life need to coexist, and you manage your life and workload with good judgment and respect for others.
  • Own It: This is your team and your clients—take the lead, make the tough calls, and own both your successes and your setbacks.
  • Growth-Oriented: We’re all about learning and growing, so you need the curiosity and drive to seek out new skills and refine your craft. Be curious about yourself, others, and our clients.
  • Humbly Confident: You know your stuff, but you’re also ready to learn and hear others’ perspectives. Big egos don’t fly here, but respectful confidence does.
  • Gritty and Resilient: Some days will be challenging, but you’ll keep pushing forward with a positive attitude, knowing the team has your back.
